Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Powerline Technician Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands‑on training and the opportunity to develop essential skills in electrical and heavy equipment operations. The apprentice will assist experienced technicians in maintaining, repairing, and installing power lines and related infrastructure, contributing to the safety and reliability of our electrical systems. This role is ideal for individuals interested in a career in utility work, with a focus on safety, technical proficiency, and professional growth.
Responsibilities- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power lines under supervision
- Operate and learn to handle various hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and rigging gear
- Support the setup and operation of bucket trucks and other aerial devices for line work
- Participate in the safe handling of low voltage systems and electrical components
- Aid in performing inspections of electrical infrastructure to identify potential issues or hazards
- Contribute to the safe rigging, lifting, and movement of materials using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures during daily tasks to ensure personal safety and that of team members
- Assist with general site cleanup and equipment maintenance to ensure operational efficiency
- Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of basic machinery operation
- Experience or familiarity with excavator, backhoe, bucket operation, and heavy equipment operation preferred
- Electrical experience or knowledge of low voltage systems is a plus
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and rigging techniques
- Ability to operate bucket trucks safely for aerial work tasks
- Strong attention to safety procedures and protocols in an outdoor utility environment
- Willingness to learn new skills rapidly in a physically demanding setting
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
