Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior MTO Value Engineer – Thermal Spray Applications

The Senior MTO Value Engineer – Thermal Spray Applications will drive standardization and systematic improvements to achieve 100% yield in thermal spray across the GE Aerospace MRO network. This role is critical to support delivery to our customers.

In the current MRO network, each shop has different processes for preparing parts for thermal spray, setting up equipment, measuring coating results, and recording data, leading to variation in yield even on the same hardware and coating. This results in rework and increased delivery time for GE Aerospace customers.

Thermal spray is partially automated. The role will also expand automation in the thermal spray booth, potentially adding robotics or cobots to eliminate operator input and improve fixturing to minimize variation. This work may be done in-house or contracted to an external vendor.

The role requires influencing a global network to adopt a common standard, integrating automation into a traditionally manual process, and managing a complex project plan to achieve the 100% yield goal. The preferred location is GE Aerospace STAC in Springdale, OH, USA, but internal candidates at other GE Aerospace MRO facilities will be considered. The role is expected to travel 25% of the time to support standardization.

Role Overview

The responsibility is to achieve 100% yield on thermal spray in GE Aerospace MRO to enable flow and reduce delivery time for our customers.

Specific Objectives of the Role Will Include
  • Defining a standard measure of thermal spray yield, deploying the measurement into the MRO network, and tracking progress during the MTO Engineering MOR
  • Implementing standard work and tools to capture process parameters and lab results across the full network, including workflows or other digital tools
  • Identifying shops “off standard” against best practices and enabling process improvements to bring all shops to the same foundation
  • Integrating robotics and other automation techniques to remove human variation from the process, including machine setup, masking, and other upstream processes like grit blasting
  • Interpreting internal and external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes or services, while utilizing industry trends to inform decision making
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least 10 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Knowledge of overhaul and component repair processes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large complex projects
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal
  • Ability to travel 25% to international destinations, including but not limited to USA, Brazil, United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong relationships with GE Aerospace MRO shops
  • Foundational knowledge of thermal spray processes
  • Understanding of how to integrate automation, or experience with managing vendors that integrate automation
  • Highly motivated, self‑starting, and passionate
  • Experience in GE Aerospace MRO Facility
  • Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills
  • Strong technical communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in diverse and distributed work environments
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
  • Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
