Role Overview
- Execute and ensure site operations are in compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE EHS management system requirements. Develop and communicate across the direct organizational site EHS imperatives, goals and initiatives.
- Collaborate with operations to drive the implementation of programs such as management of change and stop work that foster a proactive, positive safety culture. Lead EHS projects from funding through implementation.
- Conduct learning teams in response to EHS events and conduct or validate accident investigations to determine root cause and proactive solutions.
- Conduct EHS audits in support of compliance assurance activities, provide tactical issue resolution and training at the facility level, and support the Additive Business EHS leader on execution of business EHS priorities.
- Oversee senior leadership roles that manage cross‑functional teams, including Legal, Enterprise Standards, Global Operations, Services, Resource & Environmental Strategies, Remediation, High Risk Operations, and other additional individuals who report directly to those leaders. This also includes the EHS managers for each of the GE businesses.
- Manage a small team of professionals and others. Apply specialized knowledge within the function, influence strategy development for the area of responsibility, and control resources while influencing policy formulation.
- Interpret simple internal and external business challenges, recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services, and stay informed of industry trends that may impact the work.
- Use high‑level judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operation, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Assess the quality of information, ask pertinent questions, offer new solutions beyond set parameters, and construct and provide recommendations using multiple internal and external sources.
- Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, or complexity. Communicate difficult concepts, influence others’ options, and guide others to consider alternative viewpoints.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills; demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems; demonstrated ability to lead programs or projects; ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs; established project management skills.
- Master’s degree in EHS or related science or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in interpreting and applying state and federal regulations as well as other regulatory standards (ANSI, NFPA, IEC) in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Professional EHS certification (CIH, CSP or equivalent).
This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove your status as a U.S. Person (e.g., U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, granted asylee or refugee status).
