We are seeking a Lab Engineer II with expertise in LabVIEW programming, PLC systems, material handling equipment, and test system development to support our testing laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will combine electrical and programming capabilities to implement test systems, wire and integrate material handling equipment, and collaborate with senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Implement automated test systems utilizing LabVIEW and PLC architecture
- Assist with electrical panel layouts and designs for test equipment
- Perform wiring, installation, and integration of material handling equipment
- Execute comprehensive test strategies and methodologies
- Configure data acquisition systems for measurement applications
- Perform mechanical assembly and integration of test equipment
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs for material handling systems and test automation
- Support senior engineers on test system development and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement test requirements and improve product quality
- Execute test system validation protocols
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for testing processes and equipment
- Create technical documentation and follow standard operating procedures
A day in the life
No two days look the same. As a Lab Engineer II, you'll move fluidly between programming, hands‑on wiring, test system assembly, and collaborative problem‑solving — often within the same shift. Priorities shift based on project timelines, equipment needs, and testing schedules. Flexibility and the ability to pivot quickly are essential.
About the teamWe are the Test Engineering and Lab Operations team within MHE Hardware team owns and operates testing laboratories in Cincinnati, OH and Seattle, WA — purpose‑built facilities where we validate, test, and qualify material handling equipment and systems that power Amazon's fulfillment network.
We operate conveyor test loops, electronics testing stations, motor testing capabilities, and fabrication areas that allow us to exercise technologies at the component, subsystem, and full system level. We provide the space, personnel, and tools that the OneMHS organization needs to successfully develop and validate the next generation of material handling solutions.
Basic Qualifications- 2+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands‑on engineering environment experience
- Experience with common PLC platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience programming PLCs for conveyor systems, sortation equipment, or similar material handling applications
- Hands‑on experience with wiring 3‑phase and single‑phase power systems for industrial equipment
- Experience with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and motor controls
- Experience with data acquisition and control systems
- 3+ Years of LabVIEW experience
- Understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance requirements (NEC, NFPA 79)
- Experience with CAD software for electrical and mechanical design
- Familiarity with industrial automation systems and controls
- Technical project coordination experience
