Be among the first 25 applicants. Enjoy tax—let’s talk! We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager to work hybrid or in either of our suburban offices:
Frankfort or Northbrook. Must have public accounting firm experience across various types of returns: individuals, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate and gift, exempt organizations.

Expertise
  • Demonstrates expertise in the 1040 (Individual) practice area.
  • Has shown the ability to think beyond just doing a tax return and presents planning ideas for clients.
  • Applies tax rules to moderately complex fact patterns to achieve most advantageous tax results.
  • Learns from mistakes and is open to new ideas and suggestions regarding processes and methods.
  • Participates in professional education and stays current in tax topics in their area.
  • Applies knowledge and skills acquired through training.
  • Clarity along with technical accuracy in writing and in emails.
  • Recognizes issues including areas outside of their own.
  • Shows judgment as to when to consult with others.
  • Teaches others.
  • Capable of managing multiple client engagements.
  • Provides tax advice that helps clients.
  • Gauges client satisfaction and is pro‑active in addressing client service issues.
  • Resolves engagement‑related issues concerning timing of deliverables.
  • Communicates deliverables to clients in an effective manner.
  • Improves engagement margins through appropriate utilization of staff.
  • Collaborates with the rest of the team to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Manages quality through appropriate technical and non‑technical review.
  • Keeps engagement team informed of any foreseeable problems or issues.
  • Discusses with engagement partner and is held accountable for meeting client objectives.
  • Looks for new business opportunities.
  • Handles billing with only Partner review.
People Management
  • Coaching / Development.
  • Demonstrates the willingness and ability to train and mentor supervisors and staff to help them grow in their career.
  • Has begun mentoring managers in addition to staff and interns.
  • Supports mentoring initiatives and actively participates.
  • Provides performance feedback throughout the year and during evaluations.
  • Encourages staff to share responsibility in problem solving.
  • Assists in resolving staffing conflicts.
  • Shares expertise through Firm‑wide training.
  • Trains staff for the long term.
  • Works with and treats all staff, including administrative staff, equally and recognizes their contributions.
  • Identifies strengths and assigns work accordingly.
  • Demonstrates professional and personal behaviors that serve as an example to others.
  • Serves as a positive liaison between management and staff.
  • Self‑manages his/her own time; knows what needs to be done and works necessary hours.
Administration
  • Begins to be involved in staff scheduling, client administration and coordination of staffing and workflow among the Firm’s different practice areas.
Skills & Benefits
  • Proven work experience as a tax senior manager.
  • Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance, and a variety of tax returns.
  • Knowledge of tax software (preferably GoSystem) and MS Office.
  • Good at meeting deadlines and solving problems.
  • Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical skills with detail orientation.
  • BA in Accounting or MA in Taxation.
  • Prior CPA firm experience required.
