Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role you will:
* Assist with monthly and annual closing processes that include journal entry and system preparation related to closings as well as account reconciliations.
* Assist with annual 1099 reporting and vendor information updates; prepares and enters receivables for departmental billings and reimbursement transactions, and processes payment vouchers in the ERP system as needed.
* Serve as backup to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, assisting with oversight of Accounts Payable operations, including invoice processing, City check runs, vendor payment approvals, and resolving payment issues.
* Assist the accounting professional staff in data compilation for special projects including preparing detailed Excel spreadsheets for analysis and assisting with preparing information for the annual audit.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of a four-year college degree with coursework in accounting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. They will have working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices, proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications, and the ability to analyze routine accounting records and documents. Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
