Job Description Responsibilities
- Maintains records of financial transactions within established accounts and chart of accounts, posting transactions and ensuring legal requirements compliance.
- Works with and suggests improvements to existing systems to account for financial transactions within the existing chart of accounts, working with existing bookkeeping policies and procedures and suggesting changes as appropriate.
- Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, reconciling and posting transactions.
- Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries monthly and annually.
- Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries monthly and annually.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents within the existing system.
- Maintains established cash flow reporting responsibilities.
- Prepares monthly and annual financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends.
- Manages intercompany transactions monthly and annually.
- Prepares the company’s annual budget, working with the General Managers.
- Prepares monthly and annual financial statements for review of the Outside Auditor.
- Accounts receivables and collection resolution efforts.
- Supports, reviews and manages accounts payable and payroll processes.
- Supports monthly forecasting with each GM.
- Processes union reports and payments monthly.
- Generates weekly, monthly and quarterly federal and state taxes.
- Other duties include preparation and coordination of the year‑end audit, acquiring competitive bids for commercial insurance, assisting with worker’s comp audit and insurance budget, and corporate administrative tasks.
- High organization and planning skill and accountability.
- Proactive and collaborative team communication experience and skill.
- Accurate and detailed data entry experience and skill.
- Understanding of basic accounting and financial accounting standards.
- Evaluation and improvement of company bookkeeping standards and standard operating procedures.
- Proactive analysis of financial information and variances.
- Financial research and reporting skill.
- Confidential communication sensitivity skill.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skill.
- Great Plains experience preferred.
- Proficient in Quick Books.
- Knowledge of construction company.
- Degree in Finance or Accounting or related education and/or appropriate experience.
- 10+ years of bookkeeping work experience and management responsibilities.
- Experience in working with multiple location operating units.
- Experience in working with multiple legal related entities under different legal umbrellas.
Quick Books is a must.
