Position Overview
The Illinois Office of the Comptroller is seeking an Accounting Professional – Funds, Receipts, and Collections. The role involves auditing and processing accounting transactions, supporting the treasurer's office, and maintaining accurate financial records for Illinois state accounts.
Job Responsibilities- Reviews and approves Expenditure Adjustment Transmittals and Salary Refunds.
- Audits and processes Expenditure Transfers, Object Correction Requests, Obligation Reconciliation Requests, Fund Transfer Requests, and Governor's Releases.
- Researches and corrects discrepancies with the State Treasurer’s Office and submits daily Expenditure Transfer Maintenance reports.
- Assists with collections: answering debtor calls, reviewing Involuntary Withholding Mismatch reports, and processing refund and receipt balancing.
- Researches rejected payroll issues and works with agency and payroll unit to resolve them.
- Four (4) years of college coursework in business administration, accounting, statistics, finance, or economics.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, state government fiscal operations, budgetary control, or comparable experience.
- At least two (2) years of experience applying offset systems, fiscal policies, accounting principles, controls, and reporting requirements similar to the Comptroller’s Office.
- Working knowledge of electronic data systems and personal computer use.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
- Knowledge of Illinois state accounting and auditing procedures, and state offset procedures and systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; accurate keyboard and data entry skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Anticipated starting salary $73,430.82/year with a range of $73,430.82 – $/year. The position is salaried and full-time. Worksite:
Springfield, IL 62704. Eligible for the State of Illinois Group Insurance program, 12 paid sick days, 12 paid vacation days, 4 paid personal days, and 14 paid state holidays, prorated based on start date.
