Position Summary

The Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is seeking to hire a beginning professional to serve as an Internal Auditor Trainee in the Bureau of Internal Audit. This position will begin to complete audits with help and coaching from higher level auditing staff. During the trainee period, the auditor will continue to become more independent and should be able to perform an audit independently by the end of the trainee period.

Position Essential Functions
  • Under direct supervision, for a period of up to 12 months, participates in an agency-sponsored internal audit training program. Receives work assignments designed to develop knowledge, understanding, and practical auditing techniques and procedures for the review, analysis, evaluation of, and effectiveness of the audited agency’s internal operations and controls.
  • Receives formal and on-the-job training on how to conduct preliminary reviews prior to audit fieldwork and either simple or sections of complex internal audits of agencies programs to determine compliance with audit programs.
  • Receives on-the-job training to learn how to prepare digital work papers to support findings and recommendations and to facilitate easy reference.
  • Attends Internal Audit meetings.
