A well-established, mission-driven organization in Springfield, IL is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join its finance team. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting broader accounting functions in a collaborative environment.

• Competitive salary: $55,000 – $65,000

• Process and manage full‑cycle payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Maintain payroll records, deductions, and benefit allocations
• Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare related journal entries
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Support audits and reporting related to payroll and benefits
  
  Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure data integrity
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 2+ years of payroll or accounting experience
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Working knowledge of payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
