Springfield, IL (On-Site) Job Type: Full-Time Salary: $55,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience

About the Opportunity

A well-established and growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join its team in Springfield, Illinois. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting employees and management with payroll-related inquiries.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a high level of confidentiality, and experience managing payroll or other financial processes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy
  • Review timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies
  • Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as needed
  • Coordinate with management teams regarding employee changes and payroll updates
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and benefits
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with Quick Books
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred
