Overview
The Illinois Department of Agriculture seeks a professional to support the Bureau of Environmental Programs with clerical duties, receptionist responsibilities, and program support for the Livestock Facility Regulation and Agrichemical Containment programs. This role requires accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow policies and regulations related to the Illinois Pesticide Act, Insect Pest and Plant Disease Act, Livestock Management Facilities Act, and Agrichemical Containment Program.
Bilingual skills are welcome.
- Serves as Receptionist for the Bureau of Environmental Programs, performing a variety of complex, specialized clerical tasks for the Bureau of Environmental Programs, Livestock Facility Regulation program, and Agrichemical Containment Program.
- Gathers, proofs, edits, and organizes materials for the bureau’s livestock program and Agrichemical Containment Program.
- Serves as bureau property control coordinator.
- Responds to inquiries from the public, applicants, and bureau field staff regarding policy and regulations relevant to the Illinois Pesticide Act, Insect Pest and Plant Disease Act, Livestock Management Facilities Act, and Agrichemical Containment Program.
- Follows oral and written instructions and applies evolving automated office equipment and technology to complex tasks.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the listed duties.
- Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of office experience.
- Ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.
- Experience operating commonly used manual and automated office equipment and performing routine maintenance.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
- Extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Requires completion of a name-based background screening and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Requires ability to travel with potential overnight stays and a valid driver’s license.
- Overtime may be required, including evenings and weekends.
- Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on job-related topics.
- Other conditions of employment as related to job duties.
Work Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday
