Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as a Background Check Associate. This position will receive and review incoming criminal history and Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System clearances, applying agency policy to provide information and/or recommendations for resolution. The role involves data entry of background information into the appropriate Departmental system and acting as liaison to requesting parties.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as Background Check Associate
  • Perform data entry of CANTS, Sex Offender Registry System (SORS), National Sex Offender Registry System (NSORS), Out‑of‑State CANTS, Interstate Criminal History, Illinois State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and/or driver eligibility status for facility drivers into the appropriate Departmental system
  • Prepare, keyboard, and maintain complex, highly specialized BCU reports and related reports processed through Central Office
  • Act as liaison to requesting parties regarding Authorization for Background Check information
  • Serve as Central Office of Licensing contact for all issues concerning facility driver checks
  • Receive, sort, review, and distribute incoming mail and perform other duties reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of office experience
  • Ability to type accurately at 45 words per minute
