Duties As a SECRETARY (OA) TITLE 32, GS-0318-5/6, you will serve as the personal assistant and principal clerical and administrative support to one or more supervisors. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
* Exercise judgment in screening those which can be handled personally or be referred to other staff personnel or divisions.
* Personally take care of many matters and give out administrative and readily available substantive information to callers.
* Determine when the supervisor should be interrupted.
* Schedule appointments, meetings and conferences without prior clearance based upon personal knowledge of supervisor's workload and current issues of importance.
* Make arrangements for conferences and meetings, including such matters as location, schedule, agenda and attendance list.
* Arrange for travel, arrange visit schedules, notify organizations and officials to be visited, makes reservations, and submits travel vouchers and reports. Review outgoing correspondence for proper format, conformance with general policy and procedural instructions, grammar, accuracy and inclusion of necessary attachments.
* Maintain suspense records on incoming correspondence and action documents and follows up on work in process to ensure timely reply or action. Utilize word processing equipment to select information from source data or type, from plain copy or rough draft, a variety of material, including military and nonmilitary correspondence, reports, summary sheets and staff studies, and statistical and tabular material.
Requirements Conditions of employment

* This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. This is required prior to the effective date of placement. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
* Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
* Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
* This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
* Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
* Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
* The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
* The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
* The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
* The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
* The FIFTH area of consideration will be U.S. Citizens. Military Grades:
Minimum rank requirement SPC, not to exceed rank of 1SG. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : GS-06 LEVEL - MUST possess the specialized experience, education or training, which includes at least 1 year at the lower-level GS-05, to perform administrative support and secretarial functions independently. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Managing a supervisor's calendar and scheduling complex meetings or conferences without prior clearance, Independently reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper grammar, formatting, and compliance with policy before signature, Maintaining suspense files and following up on action items to ensure timely replies, Processing and arranging travel orders, schedules, and submitting travel vouchers. GS-05 LEVEL - MUST possess the specialized experience, education or training which demonstrates the ability to perform basic clerical and administrative duties.
