Established in 2021, Independence Pet Holdings is a corporate holding company that manages a diverse and broad portfolio of modern pet health brands and services, including insurance, pet education, lost recovery services, and more throughout North America. We believe pet insurance is more than a financial product and build solutions to simplify the pet parenting journey and help improve the well‑being of pets.

As a leading authority in the pet category, we operate with a full stack of resources, capital, and services to support pet parents. Our multi‑brand and omni‑channel approach includes our own insurance carrier, insurance brands, and partner brands.

Role Overview

The Product Manager for Chameleon is responsible for ensuring the platform remains stable, valuable, and commercially viable. This role partners closely with Engineering, Support, Sales, and cross‑functional stakeholders to manage and prioritize the backlog, deliver the highest‑value work, and ensure customer and business needs are balanced through disciplined product decision‑making. This role is ideal for a Product Manager who thrives in optimization, operational excellence, and ROI‑focused product management, rather than greenfield development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the product backlog for Chameleon, ensuring it is well‑groomed, clearly prioritized, and aligned to business value.
  • Evaluate and prioritize work based on customer impact, revenue opportunity, retention risk, operational efficiency, and technical health.
  • Make informed trade‑offs to ensure the team consistently works on the highest‑value initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary product point of contact for Engineering, Support, Sales, and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with Support to understand customer issues, identify patterns, and distinguish defects from feature or workflow gaps.
  • Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to assess revenue opportunities, customer impact, and market needs.
  • Translate stakeholder input into clear, actionable product requirements.
  • Ensure high‑value product work is delivered successfully and predictably.
  • Write clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and user stories that enable efficient engineering execution.
  • Identify and remove blockers that impede delivery, collaborating proactively across teams.
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to continuously improve team effectiveness.
  • Apply a disciplined, ROI‑driven approach to product investment for a legacy platform.
  • Balance maintenance, enhancements, and new opportunities to support customer retention, revenue continuity, and operational viability.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and lifecycle decisions, ensuring transparency and alignment with company strategy.
  • Ensure Chameleon continues to deliver a reliable, high‑quality customer experience.
  • Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and operational metrics.
  • Advocate for improvements that meaningfully reduce friction, improve usability, or unlock commercial value.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 6+ years of Product Management experience.
  • Experience managing established or legacy platforms preferred.
  • Strong backlog prioritization and decision‑making skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Support, and Commercial teams.
  • Comfort making trade‑offs in constrained environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Experience in SaaS, healthcare, veterinary, or regulated environments a plus.
What Success Looks Like
  • The team consistently works on the right things.
  • High‑value initiatives ship predictably.
  • Customer satisfaction and platform stability remain strong.
  • Product decisions are transparent, defensible, and aligned to business outcomes.
  • Engineering productivity and focus improve under clear product direction.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive full medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • Basic Life Insurance at no cost to the employee.
  • Company paid short‑term and long‑term disability.
  • 12 weeks of 100% paid parental leave.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA).
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • Retirement savings plan.
  • Personal paid time off.
  • Paid holidays and company‑wide wellness day off.
  • Paid time off to volunteer at nonprofit organizations.
  • Pet‑friendly office environment.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Group pet insurance.
  • On‑the‑job training and skills development.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

At IPH, we welcome and encourage applications from individuals with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates participating in all aspects of the selection process.
