Project Manager, Program ​/ Project Manager, Operations Manager

Stern Recruiting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a dynamic infrastructure construction team focused on delivering high-quality data center and utility projects across the Chicagoland area. The ideal candidate will lead project execution from planning through closeout, while working collaboratively with field crews and subcontractors. This is a hybrid role
, based in South Chicago Suburbs with regular travel to job sites throughout the Chicagoland area.

• Plan, coordinate, and manage infrastructure construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
• Develop, update, and monitor project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
• Review and understand project documents including bid instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
• Attend job walks and perform takeoffs to support planning and execution.
• Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor bids and scopes.
• Coordinate and oversee field crews and subcontractors to achieve project milestones.
• Track project progress; proactively address challenges impacting schedule, scope, or cost.
• Manage change orders and secure approvals for scope, budget, or schedule adjustments.
• Prepare and submit project reports, contract documentation, and compliance paperwork.
• Participate in project coordination and scheduling meetings to ensure alignment.
• Support project closeout activities including invoicing and final documentation.
• Provide ongoing project information and project reviews to management.
• Serve as a practical problem solver with a results-oriented mindset.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Communicate clearly and effectively across internal teams and external partners.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Project Manager in construction or infrastructure.
• Experience with utility, telecom, or data center infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of directional boring and trenching of communication lines and other utilities such as Sewers and Water Mains.
• Ability to interpret construction documents and manage project controls.
• Strong organization, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to job sites.
• Salary range: $100,000 – $130,000 per year
