Academic Surgery Cardiac Surgeon - Assistant​/Associate Professor

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Cardiac Surgeon for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, depending on experience and academic record. Tenure/Non-tenure track eligible.

This is an exciting opportunity to expand and enhance an academic Cardiothoracic Surgery program in Illinois. This position will have privileges at Springfield Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Applicants must have completed a residency and fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Illinois licensure is a requirement of employment. Duties include maintaining a medical practice, teaching students, and engaging in clinical and/or basic science research.

• Board-eligible or board-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Illinois medical license
• Successful completion of a Cardiothoracic Surgery residency and fellowship
• 2 years of experience as a Cardiac surgeon
• Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations

The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $275,000 to $302,000. Additional incentive compensation may also be available for clinical work performed beyond the standard scope of responsibilities. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
