Description

This position is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients of the health centers. Duties will be a combination of patient care, research and teaching activities.

This position is ON SITE only.

Examples of Duties
  • TEACHING (15%)
    • Actively precept as a teaching physician to fellows, residents, and medical students doing rotations in the Support Team for Addiction Recovery Treatment (START) clinic setting.
    • Actively precept as a teaching physician to fellows, residents, and medical students doing addiction consults in the hospital settings.
    • Teach patient care aspects of substance use disorders to include team-based care, doctor-patient relationship, professionalism, ethical and legal considerations, billing and coding.
    • Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the addiction fellowship and residency program.
  • SERVICE (80%)
    • Provide direct patient care to patients in the START Clinic.
    • Provide addiction consultation to patients in hospital settings.
    • Attend faculty meetings and resident conferences.
    • Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities.
    • Provide emergency services to patients as needed including those who are identified as having no primary care physician.
    • Maintain active membership in specialty societies.
    • Serve on the Center-wide Committees, as assigned.
    • Serve on school and department committees, as assigned.
    • Participate in community boards and outreach projects.
  • ADMINISTRATION (0%)
  • RESEARCH (5%)
    • Must complete 2 quality activities every 5 years (per RRC requirements).
    • Attendance/presentations at national professional meetings.
Qualifications
  • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
  • Must be Board Certified in either Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Psychiatry at time of hire
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in addiction medicine at time of hire
  • Must be licensed in the State of Illinois to practice medicine at the time of hire.
Supplemental Information

The budgeted annual salary range is $234,000 to $257,400, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
