Description
We are seeking an academic faculty member in the practice and teaching of urology to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals. The selected individual will report to the Chief of the Division of Urology and to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and will be hired with a primary emphasis on the pediatric urology specialty.
Duties Teaching (15%)- Participate in development and implementation of undergraduate curricula in urology.
- Participate directly in urology residency training.
- Participate in continuing education programs in urology for clinical faculty and practicing physicians.
- Serve as a role model for students and residents.
- Actively engage in all teaching activities including student and resident core curricula and conferences, clinic, wards, operating room, skills lab instruction, and journal clubs.
- Actively engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the Division.
- Serve as a role model for students and residents as an investigator.
- Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research.
- Set an example of highly skilled, conscientious practice balanced with self‑education and academic activities.
- Assist in coordinating multidisciplinary clinics for pediatric urology patients.
- Maintain a clinical practice in urology to enhance clinical proficiency.
- Participate in peer review for assessing clinical practice skills of faculty within the Division.
- Represent the Division in regional, state, and national matters related to the field of urology.
- Attend national meetings and symposia in urology and related fields to gain and share knowledge.
- Serve on committees in national, regional, and state societies pertaining to pediatric urology.
- Represent the Division and/or Department on committees as requested by Division and Department Chairs.
- Sensitive to the needs of under‑represented minority populations.
- Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible in Urology Surgery.
- MD licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Pediatric Urology Fellowship.
The budgeted annual salary range is $250,000 to $275,000, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the university. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
