Teacher Visually Impaired

Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Duties

* Provide educational services to students who are visually impaired ages 3 to 21

* Complete functional vision assessments and written reports

* Participate in IEP meetings and assist the team in determining education needs related to vision

* Recommend specialized materials, equipment, and technology to meet the students' educational needs

* Provide training on materials, equipment, and technology to students and staff, as needed

* Communicate and plan with ESY teachers about the modification of instructions to meet the students' educational needs

* Adapt materials for students who are visually impaired

* Participate in ESY meetings with ESY teachers

* Communicate with ESY Coordinators

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License with Blind, Visually Impaired endorsement

* Must be CPI certified or willingness to complete training
