Job Description SummaryInspire students to find their voice and master the art of written communication! Lincoln Land Community College is seeking a full-time, 9-month English Instructor to join our dedicated faculty starting Fall 2026. This position will teach introductory writing courses (Composition I, Composition II, and the English Corequisite). Courses are offered on the LLCC main campus in Springfield IL, the LLCC Medical District location in downtown Springfield IL, and Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, IL, Taylorville, IL and Litchfield, IL.
Courses are also offered on-line. The instructor is expected to teach face-to-face offerings; online teaching options will not be provided.
- Deliver instruction and maintain curriculum.
- Teach assigned classes, labs, clinicals, studio and internships.
- Prepare lessons and provide course syllabus that accurately reflects course content and evaluation procedures.
- Create a learning environment that fosters student success.
- Develop, integrate, evaluate, and assess student learning outcomes in support of the College’s ongoing accreditation.
- Participate in developing and reviewing curricula and instructional methods and with the articulation of courses as necessary.
- Consult with advisory committee(s) if appropriate for program/curriculum.
- Evaluate and assist students.
- Keep accurate records of student performance including following evaluation procedures as outlined in the relevant course syllabus.
- Provide students with constructive and timely feedback.
- Maintain office hours consistent with Section 8.3 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Comply with registration/records procedures.
- Participate in professional development and remain current in one’s discipline.
- Participate in professional growth activities.
- Attend scheduled monthly department meetings and participate in departmental/institutional operations.
- Contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
- Participate in program review.
- Complete academic assessment activities.
- Conduct current programmatic assessment activity to at least one course assignment, activity, or assessment twice per academic year.
- Compile and submit resultant assessment data as prescribed by academic services division.
- Document changes made based on aggregated data in discipline and department meetings.
- Masters degree in English with at least 15 credit hours of graduate coursework in rhetoric/composition studies.
- Experience teaching introductory composition courses.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Experience teaching at a community college.
- Experience teaching neurodiverse students, English language learners, and/or concurrently-enrolled students.
- Experience teaching English Corequisite or developing writers.
- Experience with teaching using Canvas and/or other online learning management systems.
- Experience with other departmental activities such as assessment, program review, curriculum development, and committee service.
Faculty salaries are determined by education level and experience and will be between $51,901 – $93,337. Salary ranges by level:
- Masters: $51,901 – $76,788
- Masters +15 additional graduate credit hours: $54,499 – $80,627
- Masters +30 additional graduate credit hours: $57,224 – $84,660
- Masters +45 additional graduate credit hours: $60,084 – $88,893
- Doctorate: $63,085 – $93,337
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, other times including evening and weekend as needed. Assigned courses and associated class meeting times vary each semester. Some courses may be offered in hybrid or on-line modalities. Remote Work Availability:
