COM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Emergency Medicine. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of the Emergency Medicine curriculum, support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student-focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the Illinois
COM and The Chicago School.
The Section Chief will lead curriculum development and innovation, clinical partnerships, research initiatives, and community engagement to ensure the Illinois
COM’s program trains physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that integrates both physical and mental health.
The anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2026.

The University is building the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine, or the Illinois
COM, anticipated to open for its first class of students in summer 2026 with a Mission to train exceptional physicians to leverage the interconnection of physical and mental health to provide compassionate, patient-centered care of the highest quality.
- Provide visionary leadership for Emergency Medicine within the Illinois
COM. - Lead curriculum development and assessment for the Emergency Medicine clinical rotations.
- Assist curriculum development and assessment in preclinical courses as needed.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department.
- Maintain partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training and research opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
- Oversee the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary Emergency Medicine curriculum.
- Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based and small-group learning.
- Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in clinical and academic settings.
- Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate Emergency Medicine content across the curriculum.
- Represent the College in professional organizations and events.
- Assist where needed with student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
