Blazer Jobs is seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position within the New Lenox school district. This role is an excellent opportunity to positively influence the lives of students requiring specialized educational support.
Primary Responsibilities- IEP Development: Craft and manage Individualized Education Programs tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Instructional Delivery: Provide effective instruction to students with diverse disabilities, ensuring appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
- Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Conduct evaluations to assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and areas for growth.
- Record Keeping: Keep detailed records in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Professional Development: Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay abreast of the latest special education practices.
- Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a closely related discipline.
- Certification: Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement.
- Experience: Prior experience working with special education students and engaging with their families is highly desirable.
- Skill Set: Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs, strong interpersonal skills, and a dedication to creating an inclusive classroom environment.
- Valid Illinois PEL with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.
- Completion of a recognized educator preparation program in Special Education.
- Adherence to the Illinois State Board of Educations continuing education mandates.
- Successful clearance of background checks and fingerprinting as mandated by Illinois statutes.
