Educational Consultant – Per Diem – Illinois – Statewide

Curriculum Associates is seeking a temporary, part‑time Professional Learning Educational Consultant with a background in teaching ELA or Mathematics, coaching teachers, delivering professional development and support, analyzing data, and working with school leaders.

Hours & Schedule

Consultants are scheduled on an as‑needed basis and paid hourly. Professional development is usually scheduled during normal school hours, with peak periods from August through October and again in January and February. This role is highly seasonal; a full‑time schedule during school hours is not recommended.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate high‑quality professional development, training, and support for teachers and school leaders.
  • Analyze instructional data and communicate findings consultatively with teachers and administrators.
  • Coordinate on‑site product training and professional learning courses for teachers and administrators.
  • Adjust professional learning workshops within specified parameters to meet participant needs.
  • Provide on‑site support, including lesson‑planning, pacing, data analysis, and implementation support.
  • Ensure equity in the classroom by delivering professional learning courses on effective implementation of i‑Ready and core math/supplemental reading materials.
  • Engage in the internal cycle of professional improvement and development (observation, feedback, coaching).
  • Track and submit detailed training notes and complete all assignments in a timely manner.
  • Present a professional image to customers and prospects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience teaching, coaching teachers, and providing professional development.
  • Strong working knowledge of State Standards for ELA and Mathematics for grades K–8.
  • Fluency with digital tools, including online assessments, and ability to discuss and apply data with teachers and leaders.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and ability to apply them to professional development.
  • Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional time‑management, organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with online meeting platforms (Zoom/Web Ex) a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an educational cohort.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transportation; travel up to 80% required.
Travel & Compensation
  • Travel up to 80% (including overnight stays) is required; travel may include car, plane, and public transportation.
  • Hourly rate starting at $65/hour plus additional compensation for preparation, co‑facilitation, internal meetings, travel, and other required activities.
