Duties
* Work collaboratively with all special education and general education staff
* Work under the direction of the building principal
* Provide instruction as determined by the students' IEPs
* Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students including behavior intervention plans
* Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems
* Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school's efforts
* Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
* Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement
* Successful teaching or student teaching experience
* Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with general education teachers, students, parents and staff
* Strong knowledge base of secondary curriculum
* Strong organizational skills
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience
* Ability to model teaching strategies to meet the needs of students' various learning styles
* Ability to informally assess learning and/or behavioral needs of students & address those needs using documented data
