Special Education Teachers - ESY

The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 has an opening for Special Education Teachers in the 2026 ESY Summer Program effective June 17, 2026.

To provide excellence in education by establishing an environment that facilitates student learning, encourages the realization of personal potential, and contributes to students' development as mature, able, and responsible adults.

• Appropriate Illinois teaching license with Special Education endorsement/approval.
• SLANT certification required.
• An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in special education including training and experience with the inclusion model.
• Recent experience teaching in a middle school special education setting preferred.
• Enthusiasm for both subject matter and for working with exceptional children.
• Supportive, creative individual who has solid background in child development and has the efficiency and organization to put creative ideas to maximum use in an individualized classroom.
• The ability to communicate effectively and regularly with students as well as their parents.
• The ability to work cooperatively with colleagues to communicate effectively with them on a daily basis, and to work cooperatively and energetically in a team setting.
• A high energy level and willingness to devote the time required of the position. Enthusiasm and desire to be active in all phases of school life.
• Demonstrates the desire and ability to collaborate with teachers of all disciplines.

Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds. Ability to move freely to various locations within office and school settings. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
