Instructor, Chemistry - 1 year assignment

Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) is accepting applications for a one-year, temporary, full-time faculty position in Chemistry.

The assignment will teach general education chemistry, prerequisites for pre‑health professions, and chemistry for STEM majors. Courses are offered at LLCC’s main campus in Springfield, IL and at outreach centers in Jacksonville, IL, Litchfield, IL, and Taylorville, IL.

The role includes classroom instruction and laboratory teaching, with responsibilities such as preparing lessons and syllabi, fostering an active learning environment, evaluating student learning outcomes, maintaining accurate records, and participating in departmental operations and professional development.

Salary and Benefits
  • Faculty salaries range from $51,901 to $93,337, based on education level and experience.
  • Additional compensation available through extra teaching assignments and coordinator roles.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution with at least 18 graduate hours in chemistry.
  • Prior college‑level teaching experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and advanced computer skills.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in chemistry.
  • Experience teaching general education, majors, and/or pre‑health chemistry courses.
  • Training or coursework in organic chemistry.
  • Experience at a community college.
  • Experience assessing learning outcomes.
  • Training in science pedagogy for higher education.
  • Participation in shared governance, committee work, or college service.
  • Proficiency with a learning management system (LMS).
  • Experience teaching diverse student populations, including concurrent enrollment high school students.
