JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Principal of Hope Learning Academy Springfield and the Assistant Principal of Hope Learning Academy Metro East-Glen Carbon, the Education Support Coordinator is responsible for the training, oversight and supervision for all Paraprofessionals assigned to his/her caseload that support HLAS and HLAME classrooms; manages the day to day staffing of classrooms with regard to student IEP needs;
follows collective bargaining agreements with regard to assigning work locations; redirects and administers progressive discipline up to and including discharge for infractions related to tardiness, attendance and performance; manages electronic payroll records and adheres to Hope and collective bargaining procedures with regard to pay and performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides direct supervision and guidance to the Paraprofessionals and PE Aides supporting the Hope Learning Academy Springfield and Hope Learning Academy Metro East-Glen Carbon regarding tardiness, attendance and performance; drives performance management techniques such as probationary and annual performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, professional development plans, investigatory, conflict resolution and disciplinary meetings as appropriate.
Provides training and orientation to all new Paraprofessionals; ensures clear written and verbal communication regarding employee expectations, policies, and procedures specific to the Hope Learning Academy Springfieldand Hope Learning Academy Metro East-Glen Carbon; ensures employees are adhering to the essential functions of their job description; communicates concerns with Human Resources as needed.
Assigns new employees classroom locations for employees starting mid-year; manages classroom assignments annually and provides directives for temporary or permanent work assignment changes; floats staff as appropriate.
Manages and approves or denies employee requests for scheduled and unscheduled time off; provides opportunity for follow-up as appropriate; ensures consistency across entire team; manages intermittent and consecutive leaves of absence and provides employee communication as necessary.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as a CPR or Safety Care instructor.
- Serves as a member of rounds.
- Creates and develops employee development courses within Hope University or Articulate Software.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
TRAINING, ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENCE REQUISITIONS:
- Qualified candidates must possess an Associate's degree and a minimum of 2 years progressive management experience or education commensurate with Hope experience or leadership.
- Experience managing bargaining unit, hourly employees and large number of direct reports.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a human Services related field and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a direct supervisor; preferred experience in labor relations.
- Strong computer and organizational skills.
