Lincoln Land Community College is seeking qualified individuals to provide instruction and planning for adult education courses.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned adult education course(s) (Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education (High School Equivalency preparation), English as a Second Language, and bridge/career pathway courses. Bridge /pathway courses include adult education activities and workforce preparation skills in conjunction with workforce training contextualized to various industry sectors such as healthcare, IT, hospitality, automotive, etc.).
- Plan and facilitate explicit teaching activities for whole group and small group lessons.
- Establish and maintain a classroom climate that is conducive to learning.
- Utilize ICCB approved curriculum and adhere to the Illinois content standards.
- Maintain and submit attendance and testing records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Administer standardized assessments as required.
- Assist students in defining, implementing and accomplishing educational, training and career goals.
- Complete 6 hours of New Teacher Orientation upon hire.
- Complete at least 12 hours of appropriate and approved professional development per year.
- Complete ICCB Standards Proficiency training after 1 year of employment.
- Attend meetings and conferences.
- Participate in evaluation process.
Work schedule may require teaching day and/or evening classes. Pay will be $33 per hour.
BenefitsLincoln Land Community College offers participation in the SURS state funded pension program. Employees may be assigned to duties eligible for SURS, which requires an 8% pre‑tax payroll deduction. Additionally, a 1.45% gross wage deduction for Medicare is applied.
Under the Paid Leave for All Workers Act, part‑time employees can earn 1 hour of paid time off for every 40 hours worked.
Requirements- Illinois teaching certificate preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to teach critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology for planning and instruction.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
