Position Overview
Your Leadership Belongs Here — Join LLCC as our Dean of Social Sciences and Business! The Dean of Social Sciences and Business provides leadership and administrative oversight for the disciplines and programs under the Dean’s purview at Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC), the largest community college district in Illinois.
Responsibilities- Plan, direct, and evaluate the department’s academic programs.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate department faculty and staff.
- Provide input to Academic Innovation and eLearning initiatives for faculty professional development and to Human Resources for staff development.
- Develop a comprehensive, cost‑effective schedule of classes that meets student needs and maximizes the use of facilities and equipment.
- Maintain a learning environment consistent with best practices in college instruction.
- Monitor compliance with faculty collective bargaining agreements.
- Resolve issues related to students, faculty, and staff within the department.
- Establish and maintain a workplace based upon collegiality, civility, and mutual respect.
- Contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives.
- Participate in and contribute to the development of partnerships with high schools, colleges/universities, community agencies, and companies.
- Develop, implement, and assess annual departmental strategies in relation to the college’s planning and budgeting process.
- Collaborate with other administrators, faculty, and staff to identify and accomplish initiatives that will positively impact student success.
- Assist in the college planning and assessment program by developing annual work unit objectives that support the strategic plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in one or more of the disciplines taught in the department or equivalent.
- Post‑secondary teaching experience and/or relevant work experience, preferably at a community college.
- Evidence of effective working relationships with external and internal audiences.
- Successful record of innovative education and management practices and a willingness to assume risk.
- Evidence of an understanding and use of technology in an administrative setting.
- Ability to provide leadership in an institution where differences are valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge of learning college philosophies and best practices in teaching and learning.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of and total commitment to the community college mission.
- Earned Doctorate.
Starting salary is likely to be between $96,643 and $133,701 per year with an excellent benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off. Additional benefits include 23 paid holidays, 12 Fridays off during the summer, 5 personal days, 12 sick days, and 20 vacation days per year; tuition waiver for staff, spouse, and qualified dependent children; and free access to the campus fitness center.
