Job Description

Special Education Teacher
Location: Genoa, IL
Job Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students' needs.
- Design and adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Assess and track student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies to ensure student success.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other specialists to support student learning and development.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, IEP meetings, and other documentation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement.
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning needs is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement effective instructional plans and adapt teaching methods.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
