Special Education Teacher

Location: Genoa, IL

Job Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students' needs.
  • Design and adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Assess and track student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies to ensure student success.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other specialists to support student learning and development.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, IEP meetings, and other documentation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning needs is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement effective instructional plans and adapt teaching methods.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
