Job Description

TITLE OF VACANCY: Cross Cat Teacher (Grades 2-3)

LOCATION: McClernand Elementary School

CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 Days

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 elementary endorsement
  • Successful teaching or student teaching experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with general education teachers, students, parents and staff
  • Strong knowledge base of secondary curriculum
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience
  • Ability to model teaching strategies to meet the needs of students’ various learning styles
  • Ability to informally assess learning and/or behavioral needs of students & address those needs using documented data
Specific Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with all special education and general education staff
  • Work under the direction of the building principal
  • Provide instruction as determined by the students’ IEPs
  • Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students including behavior intervention plans
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems
  • Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school’s efforts
  • Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload
  • Other duties as assigned

EFFECTIVE DATE: First contractual day of the

District 186 180-day calendar

SALARY and BENEFITS: In accordance with current SEA negotiated agreement;
