TITLE of Vacancy: Elementary Teacher - Music
Location: Black Hawk and Ridgely Elementary Schools
CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 Days
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
REQUIREMENTS/
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License, with elementary music endorsement
- Experience in music instruction preferred
- Knowledge of current curriculum, instructional trends, and school improvement process
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide developmentally appropriate and diverse instruction in music education, including vocal, instrumental and movement
- Establish and implement appropriate evaluation procedures for music learning
- Plan special events and performances that feature various musical forms and styles
- Arrange for field trips to enhance music appreciation when appropriate and available
- Work with teaching staff to correlate music instruction with other subjects and to address the school-wide focus areas
- Actively participate in appropriate professional development activities for staff
- Contribute as a team member and/or leader to all school improvement initiatives
- Maintain a classroom climate and management plan conducive to learning
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, the public, and staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
EFFECTIVE DATE: First contractual day of the
District 186 180-day calendar
SALARY and BENEFITS: In accordance with current SEA negotiated agreement;
