Position Overview
Instructor, Computer Science – Full‑time, tenure‑track 9‑month position at Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC), Springfield, IL. Courses are offered on the LLCC main campus and at outreach centers in Jacksonville, Taylorville, and Litchfield, IL.
Teaching Responsibilities- Teach 15 contact hours per semester of assigned classes.
- Prepare lessons and course syllabi.
- Evaluate students, maintain accurate records, and provide timely feedback.
- Hold office hours.
- Participate in departmental and institutional operations and program review.
- Create a learning environment that fosters student success.
- Develop, integrate, evaluate, and review student learning outcomes in support of accreditation.
- Contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with significant work experience in user support, programming, database management, and/or cybersecurity.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer skills appropriate to the discipline.
- Employment contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science with specialization in computer programming.
- Experience teaching computer science at the community college level.
- Experience assessing student learning outcomes.
- Formal or informal training in higher‑education pedagogy.
- Experience teaching students from diverse age, cultural, and social backgrounds.
Salary ranges by education level and experience:
- Bachelor’s – $47,070 to $69,637
- Master’s – $49,545 to $73,302
- Master’s +15 – $52,025 to $76,967
- Master’s +30 – $54,626 to $80,817
- Master’s +45 – $57,356 to $84,858
- Doctorate – $60,222 to $89,100
Additional compensation may be earned through extra teaching assignments during the academic year and in the summer and through coordinator assignments.
Teaching Load & ScheduleFull‑time faculty teach 15 contact hours per semester with small class sizes. Courses may be 16‑week or 8‑week formats. Remote or online modalities are available. The teaching load may include overload or summer teaching assignments.
Additional InformationQualified instruction may include programming (Java, .NET Framework), cybersecurity, networking, server administration, help desk, and database development.
