Position Overview

Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Dean of Students directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of the Student Services program. Responsibilities include child welfare and attendance, discipline, school safety, transportation services, oversight of the Community Fitness Center, and evaluation of non‑certified staff.

Qualifications
  • Hold a Professional Educators License in an approved PK‑21 program.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (preferred).
  • Hold or be eligible for a General Administrative (Principal) endorsement.
  • Hold or obtain teacher evaluation credentials.
  • Minimum of five years experience working directly with students.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary will be $65,000‑$75,000 based on experience.
  • TRS Contributions established annually by the Board of Education.
  • Individual Health / Life Insurance.
  • 15 Sick Days / 3 Personal Days (up to five personal days may be accumulated; unused personal days beyond the maximum are rolled into the sick bank).
Terms of Employment
  • 200 Day Contract; work days during the school year in accordance with the 180‑day calendar.
  • Annual evaluation by the Superintendent.
  • Contract independent of any other labor contract the District has with staff.

  • Knowledge of organizational systems, the role of public education, racial equity, social justice, culturally relevant instruction/practices, and restorative justice practices.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and research‑based programming.
  • Knowledge of Illinois and federal education laws/regulations and district policies.

  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Guide District PBIS teams, maintaining alignment of the program philosophies.
  • Participate in behavior intervention planning and functional behavioral assessments.
  • Complete PBIS reporting tools, including the PBIS Tiered Fidelity Inventory, Self‑Assessment Survey, Multi‑Tiered Action Plan, Student Intervention Enrollment Data, and Student Intervention Success Data.
  • Coordinate fall and spring stations, trimester celebrations, grade‑level refreshers, and student/staff incentives.
Child Welfare and Student Attendance
  • Serve as student advocate and complete mandated paperwork in investigations conducted by the Department of Child and Family Services.
  • Serve as the LEA during IEP meetings.
  • Follow and seek resources related to the McKinney‑Vento Homeless Act.
  • Complete annual Homeless Report to the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Initiate truancy protocols in accordance with Illinois Compiled Statutes and School Board Policy.
  • Represent the District in truancy meetings as set by the Livingston County Truancy Officer.
  • Ensure restorative justice practices and due process are followed in all disciplinary cases.
  • Communicate disciplinary actions with necessary stakeholders.
Student Discipline (continued)
  • Utilize established decision‑making rules to move students into Tier II Interventions.
  • Complete annual Student Discipline, Student Expulsion, and Student Suspension Reports to the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Provide support to staff in classroom management techniques and practices.
School Safety
  • Ensure proper measures and protocols are established to provide a safe learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Coordinate required safety drills as required by Illinois School Code.
  • Conduct annual safety meetings as required by Illinois School Code.
