HS Math Teacher

The teacher is to assist students in learning the appropriate subject matter, skills, and/or attitudes that will contribute to their development as responsible citizens. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Abiding by Missouri statutes, school board policies and regulations
  • Upholding school rules and administrative regulations
  • Attending meetings and performing duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors
  • Participating in faculty, grade level and subject area committees and sponsorship of pupil activities
  • Maintaining a cooperative relationship with staff, students, and community
  • Guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students
  • Creating an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers
  • Creating and implementing a positive classroom environment
  • Managing and maintaining an orderly and safe classroom
  • Communicating with administrators, parents, students, and staff members
  • Communicating with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret school program
  • Understanding students on an individual level and differentiating instruction based on student needs
  • Supervising pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
  • Supporting the total school program by observing curricular and extra-curricular student activities
  • Exhibiting dependability and punctuality in assigned duties
  • Striving to achieve the objectives and expectations of the Educator Performance Improvement Cycle
  • Displaying appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model for students
  • Employs a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives that meet the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students
  • Recognizing the teacher responsibility for monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly

Qualifications:

  • Valid Missouri teacher certification in Math
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance

Skills and Abilities:

  • Language:
    Respond to common questions and complaints, read, analyze and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures, government memos and statutes, write staff memos and ordinary business correspondence, keep information confidential when required by law, policy or a particular situation
  • Computation:
    Ability to compute ratios, percentages and create and interpret graphs and figures
  • Reasoning:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Technology:
    Basic computer word processing, research, and internet skills, an ability to effectively integrate available technology into the curriculum, possess a strong knowledge of Career and Technical Education, an ability to access and create reports using the district's student information software

    Job Functions:

    Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, participates as a member of an IEP team, 504 team or other student assistance team as requested, prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher, assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner, support district/school decisions in a positive manner with the public, other staff, etc.,

    maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities, demonstrates professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress, and appropriate professional manner for the work setting, reads, analyzes and interprets professional journals, state data, state standards, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms, and governmental regulations and guidance, maintains strict confidentiality, adheres to good safety practices, adheres to all district rules, regulations, and policies, all other duties as required or assigned
