Preschool teachers must demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical development. This position will run from June 2, 2026 - July 17, 2026.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate skill and competence to assume direct responsibility for child care, including helping children meet developmental milestones.
- Plan, direct, and conduct programs that meet the children’s basic skills.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in coursework related to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six; or one year (1560 clock hours) of childhood education experience in a preschool, Kindergarten, or licensed day care center;
- Thirty semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university with six semesters (9 quarter hours) in coursework directly related to early childhood education.
- Early Childhood teachers must provide a copy of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
- Must be able to read and write and have good command of the English language.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Emotional maturity when working with children.
- Cooperation with the purpose and service of the program.
- Respect for children and adults.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance.
- Responsible to follow policies and procedures outlined in Springfield Park District employee handbook.
