Under the leadership of the SCS Cafeteria Director, Kitchen Assistants play a crucial role in the SCS Lunch Program. This role involves assisting in preparing and serving food at school lunches and other school-related events, managing paperwork (such as lunch counts), operating kitchen equipment, and maintaining and stocking food and supplies. This person shall reflect the purpose of the school, which is to equip students to follow Christ and impact the world for Him.

SCS staff members live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily work and interactions with students, parents, and team members. An SCS Kitchen Assistant is someone who loves Christ, children, and preparing food for people!

An SCS Kitchen Assistant should:

  • Evidence a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Have a passion for connecting students with Christ and His mission
  • Be emotionally and spiritually healthy and lead others to be the same
  • Achieve and maintain food handler safety certification

We prefer candidates who have:

  • Prior experience working with children
  • Relevant experience in a school nutrition program or related area of food service OR
  • An associate's degree or higher in a related area (food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, culinary arts, business, or a related field)
Anticipated Compensation & Benefits

For Support Staff, SCS hourly rates begin at $15 per hour. SCS determines compensation using several factors (including): education, experience, performance, and skills.

  • Full-time benefits include Group Insurance for Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long-Term Disability, a 403(b) Retirement Plan (with employer match), Paid Holidays & Time Off, and Tuition Support for Eligible Children.
  • Part-time benefits include a 403(b) Retirement Plan (without match), Paid Time Off, and (if qualified) Tuition Support for Eligible Children.
