Job DescriptionLOCATION: District 186 Middle and High Schools
DAYS PER YEAR: Varies (2 Days Per Week)
HOURS PER DAY: Based Upon Availability (Up to6 Hours)
REQUIREMENTS/
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Requires tutors to participate in AVID curriculum training online
- Must be willing to meet regularly to discuss student progress and concerns
- Requires the ability to effectively work with students of diverse backgrounds
- Keeps informed of and adheres to school regulations and policies
- Be flexible in meeting the needs of the school
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance for each tutoring session
- Strong math and science backgrounds preferred
- Current university or college students or some college experience preferred
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tutor students in small study groups and assist them in all subject areas relevant to them and determine concepts that need to be re-taught
- Evaluate student binders, calendars, class and Cornell notes, learning logs, etc.
- Conduct brainstorming and clustering sessions
- Conduct and determine concepts that need to be focused upon in tutorial sessions
- Perform other duties as assigned.
