Minimum Starting Salary: $32.30 per hour/7.5 hour day
Summary:
The University of Illinois Springfield invites applications for a program coordinator to administer efficient operation of the Graduate Assistantship Office and Graduate Assistantship Program, provide leadership for graduate education projects/initiatives, oversee the Office of the Vice Provost and Director of Graduate Education, and coordinate GA professional development programming. Responsibilities require exercising critical thinking, acting with discretion, and making independent judgments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administers UIS Graduate Assistantship Office and Graduate Assistantship Program –Oversees application, search, appointment, hiring, and evaluation processes for graduate assistants. Promotes Graduate Assistantship opportunities to faculty, current students, and potential students, in coordination with Enrollment and Retention Management. Facilitates problem-solving and conflict resolution between supervisors and graduate assistants. Maintains working knowledge of the GA Collective Bargaining Agreement and consults with Labor Relations as necessary.
- Project/initiative/information management – Provides leadership for and/or coordinates graduate education academic, curricular, and administrative projects; ensures completion within established timelines. Serves as point of contact for System Office and other requests for graduate education information.
- Oversees the Office of the Vice Provost and Director of Graduate Education – Resource management:
Assists with planning and deployment of human and budget resources. Supervision:
Supervises Office of Graduate Education student worker(s), including selecting, hiring, training, work assignments, and evaluation. Record management:
Implements U of I Record and Information Management Services (RIMS) policies and retention schedules; develops an organizational structure and naming protocols for digital record management. Web content:
Maintains Graduate Education and Graduate Assistantship websites; delegates editing responsibilities when appropriate. - Develops/Coordinates GA professional development programming – Collaborates with GAs and supervisors to identify areas where professional development may be needed. Identifies subject matter experts to offer professional development workshops. Facilitates logistical arrangements for professional development activities. Gathers and analyzes feedback to inform future programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (
Note:
Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
