Pavement Testing Technician

Overview

Exciting opportunity for dedicated and dependable individuals who really enjoy the open road! Prairie Engineers is seeking Pavement Testing Technicians to assist primarily with pavement testing operations throughout the State of Illinois. This full-time position is available to be filled in the Springfield, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) office with paid travel expenses and a per diem allowance for meals. Training will be provided to develop technical skills with competitive compensation based on qualifications.

We are looking for dependable, highly motivated self-starters who demonstrate good communication with solid organizational and time management skills.

• Perform roadway pavement testing using specialized equipment (surface friction testing devices, highspeed pavement profilers, falling weight deflectometers, automated distress data collection vehicles, etc.).
• Conduct desktop-based pavement distress surveys.
• Maintain and service survey and testing equipment.
• Maintain focus on project delivery and client service with attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Salary range $22.00–$32.00 per hour based on qualifications.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Flexibility:
  Willing to work overtime when necessary.
• Technology:
  Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Communication:
  Good verbal and written skills.
• Safety: A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
• Travel:
  Willingness to travel at least four days per week, with overnights, in Illinois.

• Experience using pavement testing equipment including mechanical, electrical, and computer operating systems and instruments.
