ILUS - Senior Controls Engineer II – Daifuku North America

Designs control systems for industrial material handling solutions, including concepting new ideas, developing specifications and requirements, implementing proofs of concept and prototypes, performing high‑level and detailed design, and leading the transition to manufacturing. Leads large or multiple projects and trains less‑senior associates.

Responsibilities
  • Lead concepting and design of products that add value and solve customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the development team to develop products.
  • Ensure products fit current and future manufacturing operations.
  • Meet competitive and market demands for performance and cost.
  • Specify and develop sequence of operations for automated equipment.
  • Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication.
  • Develop PLC programs.
  • Maintain product development schedules and cost estimates.
  • Follow established engineering standards, including software revision control.
  • Perform prototype development and testing.
  • Conduct on‑site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and performance metrics.
  • Investigate product issues in the field and determine root cause.
  • Domestic travel up to 40% within North America.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience with sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design, including risk assessments.
  • In‑depth knowledge of industrial automation systems: HMI, SCADA, Allen Bradley controls.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or related electrical CAD systems.
  • Leadership ability and project goal achievement.
  • Ability to multi‑task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team‑oriented and collaborative.
  • Creative thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies.
  • Self‑motivated.
  • Ability to work non‑traditional hours.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
