Overview:A leading global data center operator is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Critical Operations Technician to join its Chicago-based team. This role is essential to maintaining uptime and operational excellence across mission-critical infrastructure supporting some of the world’s most innovative companies.
Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and base building systems within a high-availability data center environment.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal performance of all critical systems.
- Monitor building management systems (BMS) and respond to alarms and anomalies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation for compliance and operational transparency.
- Support safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Prior experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and fire suppression systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms and building automation systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work in a rotating shift schedule, including nights and weekends.
Skills:
- Certifications such as EPA Universal, NFPA, or equivalent.
