Overview:

A leading global data center operator is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Critical Operations Technician to join its Chicago-based team. This role is essential to maintaining uptime and operational excellence across mission-critical infrastructure supporting some of the world’s most innovative companies.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and base building systems within a high-availability data center environment.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal performance of all critical systems.
  • Monitor building management systems (BMS) and respond to alarms and anomalies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
  • Maintain detailed logs and documentation for compliance and operational transparency.
  • Support safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and fire suppression systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and building automation systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in a rotating shift schedule, including nights and weekends.
Preferred

Skills:
  • Certifications such as EPA Universal, NFPA, or equivalent.
  • Military or technical trade background.
  • Passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
