Engineering Technician -Junior Construction Inspector

Illinois Department of Transportation (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I-JUNIOR CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR)

Position Overview This position provides engineering assistance to the Resident Engineer in the layout,inspection and documentation of highway construction projects.

• Provides accurate and efficient measurements and construction staking as a memberof the survey crew.
• Keeps accurate and legible records of inspection field measurements and documentation of contracts.
• Keeps the Resident Engineer informed on the status of and problems with contractor’swork.
• Maintains records as directed by the Resident Engineer.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all dutiesin a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering,or a job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Travel.
• Successful completion of a background screening.
