Primary Purpose
Assist with providing support to Exelon Management and field professionals in developing, planning, evaluating and implementing compliance/pollution prevention/lifecycle management programs, which reduce environmental liability and minimize financial impact.
Primary Duties- Assist with developing environmental programs and regulatory requirements for avian, wildlife, air, water, RCRA, UST, SPCC, EPCRA/SARA and ecological media compliance activities as assigned. Develop expertise to serve as subject matter expert to business and participate on project teams to support business activities. Capable of developing written materials, such as environmental standards, employee reminders, environmental alerts, permit guides and training materials that are used for environmental guidance to line organization staff with guidance.
- Develop an understanding of procedures/protocols to meet the compliance elements in all assigned environmental programs, improving efficiencies using innovative solutions, identifying gaps and coordinating cost‑effective, risk‑reducing efforts solutions. Support the development of solutions to complex environmental issues and assist with preparing reports and metrics to demonstrate findings. May support senior environmental staff that act as the technical expert in an area of responsibility.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies and other external stakeholder groups. - Assist with directing environmental studies to satisfy permit and regulatory requirements as required.
- Assist in establishing processes and programs to monitor and track compliance performance, manage budget for Environmental Projects. Provide direction on existing and proposed technical environmental regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the management of vendor's performance.
- Company Representative and active participate in industry and regulatory groups and technical committees (i.e. USWAG, UWAG, IREG, BNTS, IEMA, NERC, ANJR, EPRI, etc) to promote company environmental positions as assigned.
- Capable to assist with responding to environmental incidents, inform applicable Agencies, assist with mobilizing contractors, and supervise site remediation. Participate with Company personnel to determine root cause of environmental incidents, develop solutions, and initiate preventative actions.
- Assist environmental services with contracting and invoicing requirements for environmental programs. Assist with overall financial management including budget and long range planning.
- This position is responsible for providing assistance with the management of environmental programs and initiatives for the utility organization. The position requires planning and strategic interaction with diverse internal departments including Operations, Support Services, Real Estate & Facilities, Contract & Project Management, Legal, Communications, External Affairs and Financial; and interaction with external stakeholders including regulatory Federal, State, and Local agency personnel and community organizations.
Requires direct supervisory oversight of numerous subject matter consultants and contractors. Position also requires strong negotiating skills and a technical understanding of a broad range of environmental subjects and principles. Requires the ability to make decisions and leverage control in ambiguous project settings involving diverse internal and external personnel and interests. Financial duties focus on cost avoidance and recovery and budget oversight responsibility for numerous projects, or initiatives.
Position is high impact due to material nature of compliance and liability implications (i.e. financial, compliance and image). - Works under minimal supervision, relying on knowledge, skills and judgment acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.

- Position also requires solid environmental background with a technical expertise in Environmental Sciences.
- BS in Physical Sciences, Geology, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Engineering or Environmental Sciences, with 2 to 5 years of relevant working experience in the environmental field.
- Knowledge of utility systems and regulatory background in environmental media (water, air, UST, SPCC, ecological) disciplines.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in hazardous materials and chemical control.
- Strong background in information management systems and applications.
- Strong people skills and ability to thrive in a team environment is essential, along with innovation, creativity, and initiative. Strong technical writing, oral communication, and negotiating skills.
