Overview

Automation Engineer to shape the future of PCI’s software and control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of Information Systems, networks, infrastructure, PLC programming, HMI programming, OPC, operating systems, and packaging equipment.
  • Procure and install hardware/software needed for OEM and internal equipment integration.
  • Set up and configure production data monitoring systems for new and existing packaging lines.
  • Program PLC and HMI platforms, building new systems, adding functionality, and expanding data collection capabilities.
  • Commission and verify PLC, HMI, and serialization systems.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain servo‑drive systems, vision/inspection systems, press‑force monitoring, and printing systems (TTO, inkjet, laser).
  • Install sensor‑based systems to collect production counts and monitor status changes.
  • Provide connectivity from PLCs to OPC servers via virtual LAN configurations.
  • Create and modify electrical schematics and network layouts for all electrical equipment.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain cybersecurity on OT networks.
  • Interact with the software database to troubleshoot serialization issues.
  • Follow OSHA and NFPA 70E safety codes and regulations.
  • Support FAT/SAT and validation activities globally.
  • Train other departments on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Provide 24‑hour technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance at all facilities.
  • Travel unsupervised to vendor facilities for FAT/SAT support.
  • Willingness to learn and train on new systems as required.
Travel

Domestic and/or international travel may be required for up to 10% of the year.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5–10 years of related experience or training.
  • College‑level mathematical skills.
  • Advanced computer skills: ability to perform complex tasks and operate various computer programs.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written communication.
  • High reasoning ability to define problems, interpret technical instructions, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Preferred: ability to follow instructions; originality, creativity, sound judgment; goal orientation.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $86,880 – $103,170 per year, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance (including dental and vision), a flexible spending account, and a 401(k) plan.
