Overview
The Civil layout/technical engineer will be responsible for surveying, layout of concrete formwork, and other duties as assigned by the concrete superintendent. Job environment is predominately outside and requires manual labor and ability to follow company safety policy.
Responsibilities- Problem solving with an aptitude in math (Third level qualification in a mathematical inclined field a plus).
- Completing tasks in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, or Tekla structures.
- Working on own initiative with others to complete tasks.
- Following the company safety management and organization standards.
- Completing assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and remain productive.
- This is an entry level position with full training provided.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn a must.
- Must be able to work as a part of a team on large scale commercial projects as a site surveyor. The successful candidate will learn to:
- Transmit job contract drawings to lines and grades in the field.
- Use a total station and/or other surveying equipment to snap lines and grades for installation of concrete work.
- Grade concrete formwork to designed elevations.
- Read/Understand contract drawings.
- Work with other trades to complete complex concrete structures.
- Degree or qualification in Engineering/math related discipline preferred, though not required.
Chicago Civil/Layout Engineer - Hourly Pay Range
$20.00 - $30.00
