Position: Principal Engineer, Engineering Process Lead (Onsite)

Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled and process-focused engineer to support our Mechanical Power Conversion product line. This role emphasizes driving improvements in engineering processes, including coordinating and managing Engineering Change Requests (CRs), Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs), and Engineering Process Analysis Turnback review and mitigation.

What You Will Do Engineering Process Leadership
  • Lead and manage the review, prioritization, and resolution of Engineering Change Requests (CRs) to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs), providing clear guidance and prompt resolution.
  • Oversee the Engineering Process Analysis Turnback review process, identifying root causes of inefficiencies and implementing mitigation strategies to improve performance.
Process Improvement
  • Analyze current engineering processes to identify areas for efficiency improvement and backlog reduction.
  • Develop and implement sustainable process solutions to ensure quick turnaround times and long‑term operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to streamline workflows and integrate best practices across the Mechanical Power Conversion product line.
Technical Expertise
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of mechanical product design and detailed design definitions to support engineering process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry specifications, standards, and materials to maintain product quality and safety.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team, suppliers, and other stakeholders on process‑related matters.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering processes, such as CR and SRI closure rates and turnback resolution metrics.
  • Use data‑driven insights to propose and justify process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience leading process improvement initiatives and achieving measurable results.

We Prefer

  • Experience with detailed design definitions and familiarity with aerospace industry specifications, standards, and materials.
  • Experience in engineering tools and systems, including PLM software (e.g., Teamcenter), CAD platforms, and change management systems.
  • Communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Prior experience working in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

Salary range: $107,500 - $204,500 USD. This role is U.S.

-based; if the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
