** Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

* Job Summary:

** Caterpillar Electrification + Energy Solutions Division currently has an opening for Design Engineer - Battery Module Mechanical/Thermal System Integration located in Mossville, IL. This position will have responsibility for design development, integration and validation of battery module mechanical systems for electrification programs through New Technology Introduction, New Product Introduction & Small-batch development phases from concept through production.

* What you will do:

** This position will be accountable for translating mechanical system requirements from L4 teams into appropriate battery module mechanical system designs thru component and subsystem integration. It will also have accountability for mechanical system auditing, troubleshooting, validation, and issue resolution to ensure alignment to safety and regulatory standards and reliability expectations.

This includes:
* Develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications of products and components that satisfy customer needs and advance safety, quality, velocity and cost.
* Participating in supplier selection and capabilities assessment.
* Monitoring, exploring, and testing new technologies, materials, and components to understand product or process improvement opportunities.
* Constructing and fabricating prototype equipment; overseeing materials selection, process optimization and process yield, as well as reliability testing and failure analysis.
* Lead the development of battery module mechanical systems.
* Provide direction, concepting, and consulting for new application investigations and guidance for the overall architecture and design of batteries within New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
* Perform mechanical analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves problems.
* Lead Battery module design for program and maintain commitments for key program deliverables.
* Collaborate with internal and external suppliers with the APQP process.
* Build relationships and leverage business unit and corporate battery system experts.
* Lead and document high voltage mechanical system integration best practices and design guides.
