Civil Engineering Designer Entry Level

Responsibilities:
As a member of an interdisciplinary design team working with senior engineers designing highway transportation projects:

• Collect engineering information and data
• Perform computations and analyses
• Prepare design sketches and diagrams
• Prepare engineering drawings and maps using CADD software
• Perform quantity computations
• Develop spreadsheets for computations and analyses
• Perform traffic and safety studies
• Write engineering reports and correspondence
• Perform field work to investigate existing and construction conditions
• Perform literature reviews
• Cooperate and coordinate with other design team members
• Review contractor submittals such as working drawings and RFIs

Requirements:

• BS in Civil Engineering
• Experience with Microstation or Autocad, Word and Excel
• Familiarity with highway and traffic engineering design standards such as the Highway Capacity Manual, AASHTO Highway Safety Manual, AASHTO Greenbook or the MUTCD.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Engineer-in-Training certificate holder preferred
